Sydney Tour (26 June ~ 2 July) Day 6 and half of Day 7

1 July...

We woke up really late today, actually lazy to move already. We went to Bondi Junction, and here we had some nice bargain and of course bought something cheap. I was not amazed by the shopping centre itself, but the shops outside that offer reasonable prices.

Ok, we went back after that, and discover that Jason's heater has got problems, so we went to GoLo to fix it. Huh, it closed already by the time we reached, so we went to have some night view at Coogee Beach. Phew~

2 July until noon...

This is the last day of my Sydney Trip, and of course it had to be ended with something marvellous, University of Sydney!! This time I was so 'lucky' to have Pizza as my tour guide. Hoohooh, what a big uni!! I especially like the Quadrangle, and the buildings.... (something we dont have in UQ, sorry UQ guys...). I was also so lucky to have something extra - an exhibition about ancient civilization going on at the uni, hehe... Tired, so just have a look at the photos in case you have not been there before...

After that we went back to Pizza's house, and wow, it was such a big double storey house with only 3 ppl living in. Haiz, Pizza's room is double the size of my room, isk isk... I was also so 'fortunate' to have Pizza cooking pasta for me, hehe, thanks Pizza!!

Sydney Tour (26 June ~ 2 July) Day 5

30 June...

This was quite a relaxing day, coz we were so tired that we dont have energy to walk anymore. So, first we went to the Powerhouse Museum, quite a modern museum I would say. There are different sections there such as art, locomotion, space, cyber and chemistry. It is a modern museum that does not only exhibit, but also allows interaction with the displayed object so people can learn more. I especially like the section with tonnes of little experiment that I can play, haha. $6 was worth it. I am tired also, these are some photos...

Next, we went to Chinatown. Not very big but still full of chinese stores, particularly of food and souvenirs. We walked around to find a place to eat our lunch, and oops, Jason suggested we eat dim sum. Haiz, that 'lunch' costs us $37, with one plate of dim sum around $5, hmm i swear never eat dim sum again in Australia. After that we browsed the shops again, and bought dumpling, char siew pau and some souvenirs. Haha, quite nice but I missed the Paddy's Market (like Petaling Street). Haiz, who to blame?

Sydney Tour (26 June ~ 2 July) Day 4

29 June...

Well today again we went to Circular Quay, but this time we were not just taking pictures outside the Sydney Opera House, but we entered it. Thanks to Jason, we were late and luckily the receptionist was so kind to let us join the next batch. We entered the magnificient building at 10.30am, and huh, it was a fine piece of architecture!! We visited some of the theatre, but unfortunately we were not allowed to take photos (copyright reason, huh!?) I have never thought I have such a chance in my lifetime!! Ok camera time...

After the 30 minutes guided tour of the Opera House, we went to the Royal Botanic Garden just opposite to it.

We didn't stay long here, coz my feet were killing me due to yesterday's Bondi to Coogee Beach Walk (sob... sob...). We passed by the Government House, and snapped some photos in front of it (we were not at the right time, so we didn't follow the guided tour of the House).

Ish, the Royal Botanic Garden was so big that it took some time for us to make it to Art Gallery of New South Wales. The Gallery was beautiful in the sense that it resembled the Parthenon in Greece (I am quite sure it is copying hehe..). We entered it (coz it is free) and took a look at the so-called ART (sorry I just couldnt appreciate them). Not very interesting to me, except the outside view of the building.

Straight after that, we hopped on a bus and travel back to the city. We went to Queen Victoria Building (QVB) for some window shopping. I can't deny that it is a shopping complex with unique architectural design, including the ancient clocks in it. We didnt spend much time there (coz things sold are expensive!!!), and we walked pass several shopping complexes like Centre Point and also Sydney Tower.. Well, CAMERA!!

Finally, Jason suggested we should go to an evening cruise. Ok, we went to register for an evening cocktail cruise at 5.30pm. We were supposed to see the sunset, but oops it had set at 5pm... We boarded the ship and started our journey. Wow the feeling was totally different than sitting on the Sydney ferry. I especially like the night view and the breeze. About the cocktail, we were actually given a drink and an 'evening box' comprised of cheese, crackers, nuts and a small bowl of who-know-what. I saw someone took another drink, so I was so greedy that I suggested we went to take extra drink as well. We both took red wine this time, and oops Jason was drunk!! Sorry Jason, I couldnt have suggested that...

He was drunk for a few moment, and with my help (off course, hmm I was not drunk after 2 drinks, hehe), we went back home safely. Jason fell asleep on the floor instantly, and haiz, as a guest, I still had to prepare dinner for him. Lucky my cooking hadnt gone bad though. Haha!!

Sydney Tour (26 June - 2 July 08) Day 3

28 June...

Ok today is a quite busy day. We first went to Circular Quay to catch a ferry (again!?) and sail to Darling Harbour. Jason was having his sunnies that day, showing off how nice he was with those sunnies on his face... and so he forced me to wear also, sob sob... That day I got to see the morning view of Sydney, which was different from the afternoon and evening view that I had before. Cool...

Back to the topic, we hopped off at Darling Harbour i guess. We went to the National Maritime Museum (which Jason was very excited about, sigh). The entrance ticket is called Big Ticket (I forgot the price, but ask him, he got a expenditure record of every single cent). First we entered the Museum itself. Not much, most of them were replicas and models, and obviously I am not much into the history of Australia. Haha. Then, we got to visit 3 different 'ship': a submarine, HMS On-slow and James Cook's Ship (haha whatever, bad memory).

First, for the submarine, this is the first time i went into one. Oops it was pretty narrow like a tunnel. I can barely move there (fat fat.. sob...). To me nothing much except I could see the big torpedo that weigh more than a tonne! Also about all the meters and the cabin and even the toilet, huh? However, a pretty good experience.

Ok, for the HMS On-slow (or who-know-what?), it is a bigger ship with the cannons in front of it. Nothing much also, except I got to learn more about the bullets, or whatever...

Finally, the James Cook's one, a replica only. But it is quite real. I learnt most stuffs here, about the life of Captain Cook, how the sailors live there, how they cook, sleep and so on. I am so impressed by the replica itself. Cant describe much here coz forget most of them... Let the picture tell the story.


Ok, finish for the National Maritime Museum, we went to the Sydney Fish Market. We were lost for half an hour, thanks to somebody again, haha. First, I was welcomed by the foul smell of seafood, but soon i found it an interesting place. Countless stall selling various seafood, a view that I have never seen before in Brissy. We finally decided to order something to eat (btw it was already 2.30pm, sigh). We had a fishermen basket (calamari+prawns+chips+etc), half dozen of oyster (kill me pls...) and a plate of salmon. New experience to me to eat oyster, coz I have not eaten it before... Lucky I didnt get stomachache haha!! So hungry that forgot to take pics for the food, paiseh...

After some camera time there, we went to Star City, the casino, hahahaha. This is also one of my first-time (since Genting casino allows only ppl 21+, I am too young to enter hehe :p). We were given free ten dollars to gamble. I chose the roulette and lost my bet at once. Jason chose the machine and won 4 dollars haha. Huh, finally came to the final part of the day, the Sydney Observatory. Ming Shyuan, Pizza and Fish joined us as well for that (Hwei Fern not coming coz she was busy moving). Ish, Fish was late and we hurried there in 10 mins from Circular Quay. Phew, lucky we got there on time. First we went into the new dome and watch some stars (forgot the name) and planets (like Jupiter, Mars = a rainbow dot, haha). Quite impressive, but not as high tech as I first thought of. However, the guide seems to be very knowledgeable, basically talking non-stop. After that we went into the building and watched some 3D shows, quite nice. Thirdly we went outside and used out naked eyes to locate the stars. Wow, I got to see the Scorpio!! His tail and his heart!! Cant see much due to clouds, we went inside another dome with an older telescope (manual). The funnies thing was that we could see the heart of Scorpio, which is red in colour (haha I am normal), but Ming Shyuan kept saying it was black, isk isk... Ok camera time....

Sydney Tour (26 June ~ 2 July) Day 2

On 27 June...

In the morning I had my breakfast with Jason. Guess what, we had breads with chocolate and blueberry jam. I am not used to have this kind of breakfast, but what can I do? Just have to bear , especially when Jason enjoy eating bread so much...

After that me and Jason first went to visit UNSW, which is a very compact uni. I especially like the good planning of the location of building, just like Melbourne city... Kk pic time...

I can't remember much what we did straight after leaving UNSW (visiting the Royal Randwick, am I right, Jason?). Then we caught a bus to Coogee Beach. It was good at first, all about sight seeing.

Then, my nightmare began... due to this fish...

I was tricked by someone, whose name I don't want to mention again, to complete the 'famous' (notorious indeed!!) Bondi to Coogee Coastal 7 km Walk. It was a nightmare... Though 'the horizon is a straight, horizontal line' (Jason 2008), I felt climbing up stairs was much more than climbing down stairs. But overall experience is good (at least I know some sydney ppl dont even dare to try, like p_ _ _ _ c_ _ _...)

Gordon Bay or Clovely Bay? No idea, ask Jason!!!

Crap! We walked for 2 hrs also haven't reach Bondi Beach, sigh. We walked past Coogee Beach, Gordon Bay, Clovely Bay, Bronte Beach and finally reached Bondi at around 1 pm, i guess. Then we went to eat Oporto, the first time i stepped into this shop which someone said is famous in Australia, hehe...

I was so tired that I swore not to walk back to Coogee Beach. We hopped into a bus and went back straight to Circular Quay. Jason wanted to let me see the Sydney view in the afternoon (or perhaps, evening..) Then we again hopped into a ferry, because we don't wanna waste $32 to buy a travel pass for nothing. Some nice Sydney views...

We walked around the city (again..), passing Railway Square and so on... Haiz my memory gone so bad that I forgot what I have done after that, but quite sure we encountered some nice water fountains and the Sydney Olympic logo again.

Ok, that night we couldn't go anywhere, since we have a 'big person' having birthday, our Fish Ang Sheng Yu' (See, I flied from Brisbane just to say Happy Birthday to him, how kind I am..).

We met Pizza, and oops, to my horror, he has become more and more like a girl!!! Kk, We (me, Pizza, Jason, Hwei Fern, Ming Shyuan and of course Fish) had a steamboat party at Ming Shyuan's house.

Then we played Uno (sob sob, my first time playing...) They were bad to catch me everytime i forgot to say 'Uno', sob sob....
